5 Tips for Planning a Preschool Graduation

For many children, preschool is the first step in a long educational journey. Preschool graduation is a real milestone, so teachers should be sending their kids to kindergarten in style. In this guide, we've shared five preschool graduation ceremony ideas that will make the day memorable for students and parents alike.

Plan Fun Festivities

Preschool graduation is the perfect day for students to show off their talents, whether in music, dance, or art. We recommend planning a group song-and-dance with your students, so they can welcome parents to the ceremony. You may also want to hang student art projects around the classroom for parents to admire.  

Make a "Best of" Movie

Next, you can gather the best photos and video clips from the school year, and compile them into a slideshow for guests to enjoy. You can play this movie on loop before the ceremony starts, so that parents have something entertaining to watch as everyone arrives. Meanwhile, you may want to create a themed "photo area" in the classroom for preschoolers and parents to take photos together. Make sure to bring a few graduation caps and fun accessories for students to wear!

Prepare a Brief Speech

In the weeks leading up to graduation, we recommend drafting a speech for the beginning of the ceremony. Use this time to thank the parents – especially the ones who volunteered their time at school. You can also show appreciation to any other faculty that contributed to the classroom this year. Then, it's time to recognize the students' accomplishments, and send them off with a few inspiring words.

Test Equipment and Set Up Early

A few days before graduation, take a few minutes to test the PA system and any other audio visual technology you plan on using. If something seems faulty, get in touch with the school administration and ask if they can send a tech-savvy individual to help. Meanwhile, you should prep the graduation venue as early as possible.  This way you'll be able to focus on being a welcoming host when the ceremony starts.

Bring Diplomas and Goodie Bags

Finally, it's a great idea to print diplomas online and customize them with each student's name. To make the diploma look more prestigious, you might want to tie a ribbon around it with your school's colors. When it's time to head home, you can hand out goodie bags with fun school supplies and a few educational toys inside. Meanwhile, parents will appreciate it if you set up a refreshment table with healthy snacks.
