Gold Graduation Collar

One very important aspect of wearing academic gowns at a graduation ceremony is that all the students look uniform. This provides the graduates and school with a very formal scholarly look that follows tradition. Graduation collars help keep the students looking identical since sometimes you can see their clothing showing at the top of the gown. This is usually more of a necessity with female students who wear blouses or dresses, while male students can wear a collared button up shirt. Getting collars for all the students provides freedom for both male and female students to wear what they want under their attire. Instead of requiring the students to all purchase the same collared shirt, they can just purchase Graduation Source collars with their gowns.

Once you have your collar and gown, you may wonder how it’s applied and stays in place. Let’s talk about how to wear a graduation collar properly:

*We recommend getting a family member, friend, or a teacher/faculty member to assist you with putting the collar on properly*

How Do I Wear my Collar?

    • 1. Remove your graduation gown from it’s packaging and make sure the size is correct before trying it on. Once you know you have the correct gown, put it on and leave it unzipped.
    • 2. Put the collar around the back of your neck and over your shoulders. Line the collar up on top of the neckline of the gown. The thick part should be in the back and each end should come down over your shoulders. The two ends should fall to the top of where the gown zips up.
    • 3. While you hold each side of the collar down, have a friend, family member or teacher fold half of the collar underneath the back of the gown. They would then take one of the safety pins to attach the underside folded part of the collar to the inside back of the gown.
    • 4. Realign the two thinner ends of the collar to the neckline of the gown. Similarly to the back, you will need to fold the ends under the gown. Use the other two safety pins to attach the collar from the inside of the gown to the underside of the collar on both the right and left side.
    • 5. Lay collar flat and adjust accordingly. Once you are happy with the collared appearance, zip up your gown.
